Forgotten Christmas Movies/TV
Of course Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman are fan favorites. These are five of my favorite Christmas movies that seem to have been forgotten, all from children's television.
Anabelle's Wish
A 1997 Hallmark movie based off of a short story by Daniel Hanson. The film features a mute boy and his beloved calf who dreams of flying like reindeer. With music by Randy Travis, Allison Krauss, and even Dolly Parton the country rhythm of this story will melt your heart. I also can't forget to mention voice actress Kath Soucie, (you might know better as Phil & Lil Deville from Rugrats and much more).
It's a story of friendship, believing in dreams, and love. Billy, suffering from trauma of a fire, can't talk. Little Anabelle gives up her dreams to help her friend Billy. "Christmas Eve is a night made for wishers. That's what it is. A night made for believers of all ages."
Olive the Other Reindeer
A 1999 Fox animated production is a humorous story about Olive, the dog unlike any other. The early computer animation is a bit different, but enjoyable. You'll recognize Olive as voice actress Drew Barymore.
An auditory challenged flea directs her to head north to save Santa after his call for "all of/ olive the other reindeer" to save the day. There are many characters in the story that follow the theme of "not so bad." Characters too naughty to earn a gift from Santa, that argue they've done their best and can still be good.
A Rugrats Passover (Season 3: Episode 23)
This is one of my favorite Rugrats episodes "Don't you know, Passover's all about freedom. And there's toys in it for me you know." Boris (Tommy's grandfather) sits Tommy upon his lap and tells the story of Moses setting his people free. The story it told in a very kid friendly version. Tommy (Moses) works to liberate the "babies" representing the Hebrews. Angelica (Pharoh) struggles with the plagues and finally allows the babies to leave.
"You mean, I threw out the baby with the bath water too?!" cries Angelica as she chases the babies out of Egypt. It's currently on Hulu.
Grandma got Run Over by a Reindeer
A Cartoon Network special about the famous song. Grandma gets run over by a reindeer and her loving grandson has to stop his cousin from suing Santa. Couldn't seem to find this one online, but the songs are rather comical. Turns out, Grandma has been with Santa all along.

Adventures of the Book of Virtues: Generosity (Season 3: Episode 33)
This show was on PBS. It's about two kids who seek advice from their animal friends named for Greek Philosophers. This particular episode is my favorite iteration of the gift of the magi. The whole series is nice, but this one hits close to home for the holidays.
